Emergency financial stability

Flexible Relief

A severe injury doesn’t just pause a rodeo career; it halts an athlete's entire ability to earn a living. The foundation looks past the clinical invoices to protect the competitor's whole life. Our emergency funding is flexible, aimed at eliminating immediate, high-stress burdens. Whether it is keeping up with agricultural land commitments, putting groceries on the table, paying bills, or funding rehabilitation, we ensure life doesn't unravel during recovery.

Who We Help & What We Cover

Carded members of the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association (CPRA) who have suffered a severe, income-restricting injury are eligible to apply for aid.

Because rodeo athletes are self-employed, a serious injury doesn't just pause a career — it immediately threatens a family's financial stability. Hardship looks different for every household. For one competitor, the crisis is rent. For another, it's groceries, fuel to medical appointments, or keeping a ranch operation running while they're immobilized. That's why we don't restrict aid to medical invoices. Our payments are flexible, targeting whatever financial pressure point is most urgent.

The Foundation also extends support to organizations that protect athletes before and during competition. We periodically help rodeo specific paramedical services such as the Canadian Pro Rodeo Sport Medicine Team — a dedicated group of athletic therapists, chiropractors, massage therapists and orthopaedic specialists who travel directly to events — ensuring qualified care is always waiting behind the chutes.

By funding their transportation and occasionally other operational costs, we help ensure athletes receive elite preventative care before they ride, immediate attention when an accident happens, and expert guidance throughout their long road to recovery.

Other Types of Support

When a cowboy or cowgirl is injured, the immediate focus is on the physical trauma like broken bones, internal injury or concussion. However, the true damage often runs much deeper than what shows up on an X-ray.

Rodeo is an identity, not just a job. Facing a sudden, possibly career-ending crisis strips away an athlete's community, routine, and purpose. This sudden isolation can quickly ripple outward—straining family life, causing intense mental health struggles, and creating severe financial stress at home. What happens to your sense of self when the arena is suddenly gone? How do you face the looming uncertainty of a career shift when you are forced to step away from the only life you’ve ever known?

Sidelined athletes don't just lose their primary income—they may lose their community, their routine, and their purpose. The psychological weight of this sudden isolation quickly ripples outward, straining family dynamics, causing intense financial stress at home, and taking a severe toll on mental health.

We believe that true recovery requires treating the whole person, not just the injury. While the Foundation steps in to help stabilize your financial commitments, we also urge our rodeo family to utilize these two invaluable, specialized resource hubs built to guide you through the mental, emotional, and physical aftermath of hardship:
